Research Projects
PRINCE members have developed few technologies for industrial
and domestic applications. We invite corporate and organisations
for commercialization and application of these technologies.
Till date PRINCE members have four patent applications pending.
- Industrial Solar Concentrator.
- Parabolic Trough Collector.
- Low cost built in Solar Water
Heater.
- Solar Distillation System.
-
Liquid plate Solar Water Heater.
-
Multireflector Solar Box Cooker.
-
Hybrid Solar Cooker.
-
Solar Refrigeration System.
- Low
Cost Built In Solar Water Heater : (Patent Pending)
5. Low
Cost Water Heater :
A
liquid flat plate collector with built in tank and solar
panel was constructed. Initial tests indicate acceptable
results. The unit is currently under test and results for
winter performance will be closely monitored.
This unique design costs approximately 50% of the cost
of the conventional water heating systems.

6. Solar
Box Cooker with Multiple Reflectors :
Solar
Box Cooker with multiple reflectors placed on all 4 sides
of the inclined glazing increases the heating rate by about
50% than the conventional single reflector, flat glazing
box cookers.
7. Hybrid
Solar Cooker with top and bottom heating:
In
this new design of solar box cooker the bottom of the cooker
is replaced with glass and multiple glass reflector panels
are added to put additional solar radiation in the box cooker
apart from the conventional top heating mirror. Speed of
cooking in this type of system increases almost 3 times
than the conventional box cookers.
8. Solar
refrigeration system:
Research
work is on for vapor absorption and vapor adsorption solar
refrigeration system. The research work is at primary stage
and financially not viable at present for commercialization
and field implementation.

9.
Low Cost Built In Solar Water Heater : (Patent Pending)
Prof.
Ajay Chandak has designed a new low cost built in solar
water heater which combines the collector and hot water
storage tank in one. This is a low pressure open system
and hence very thin galvanized sheets can also be used for
construction of tank and other structural elements. Trials
on prototype are successful. Inquiries for commercialization
are welcome.
